During the Harvest Service, worship was led by one of the worship team members, Glenda. We had a lovely poem by Jade, and heard from the tudor road chior. We also had songs from sister Nadine, sister Faye, sister Douglas and sister Janine. The word for this evening was brought by Sister Maureen Morris from cogop Knowle west, the topic for the sermon was `Blessed to be a blessing’.
Harvest Poem written by Jade – 13th September 2009
Harvest is a year when people help by growing crops on their farms
All around the world people like you and me give a small donation of tinned food
Round the world there are people starving in places like Africa
Vegetables, crisps, tinned food and fruit in cans are just one of the things you can put in cardboard boxes and help the poor
Every one of us could help by giving some of your food to day
Seed’s are what help us grow wheat to make bread
Thank you fro listening to my harvest poem
Dear Sir Madam,
INAUGURATION OF BRISTOL BLACK BOYS CAN
Please allow us to introduce to you the inception of the above organisation which is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious charity organisation.
We the committee have the pleasure to invite you and your company to the inauguration of Bristol Black Boys Can Franchise, on Saturday June 27th 2009 from 6pm to 7.30pm.
The original organisation called The National Black Boys Can was started in Birmingham, just over 10 years ago. Their programmes are on education and empowerment of both parents and their children with the view to helping Black Boys (age 9-16 years) to become better scholars and citizens.
For further information please visit their website: www.blackboyscan.co.uk/index.php
This training has helped countless number of children, who would have otherwise fallen by the wayside of mainstream education, to become high-flying students in universities, commerce etc. Those youth who attended their classes have been helped to shun crime and other unsociable activities. There are franchisees located around major cities of the UK inter alia, London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Luton, etc.
For the local franchise we have come to the conclusion that such a successful programme needs to be run in Bristol as well, as there are benefits to be derived by parents, pupils and the community as whole. We have also included girls (ages 9-16 years) for the Bristol franchise.
We would be very grateful to have your presence at this launch as we are in no doubt that you would support any programme which aims to educate and prevent the youth from getting in the habit of crime.
Yours sincerely,
Francis Borteye
Chairman
All the Mothers & ladies in the house were truly blessed, the youth performed with songs, dancing, bible readings and poems. Children wrote special messages and gave gifts to thank their mothers for their unconditional love. The sermon was a blessing and those who were able to attend was inspired, strengthened and uplifted, Blessed be the name of the Lord.
