Video Clip “Can I Tell You ‘Bout the House of Praise?”

” Are You Ready?” 2010

Undoubtedly the Concert of the year! If you didn’t make it you missed soul-stirring performances and ministry by the likes of Kaisha, Elaine Clark, Mr Conscious & Warfare, Lil and Bro Harvey alongside Sis Tay Tay. We were taken through our paces by the dynamic duo of Robert Lawrence and Charmaine Lynch who had the congregation thoroughly entertained right throughout the proceedings. The highlight of the evening were the many souls who came to the altar to receive from the Lord and who were blessed tremendously.

P.S  Place an order with Ryan or Ray J to have your own DVD for this momentous occasion!

Christmas Poem (by Michelle Williams)

A Christmas poem

Christmas, its the best time of year,

a time when we hold our loved ones dear.

But we get all so consumed with buying presents and gifts,

that the real meaning of christmas sometimes begins to drift.

Its not all about nice food and whats under tree,

its about the precious child who was born to save both you and me.

God sent his only son Jesus to this world full of evil and hate,

but God knew this was the only way to break our sealed fate.

For many years ago Jesus was born in a manger,

Mary, Joseph, the wise men and Angels all knew he was our savior.

So of course its a time for us to spend with our family and the ones we love,

but lets remember to give thanks to the Great one above.

Lets take this time to celebrate this very special life,

but let us not forget the real meaning of christmas is the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

CHRISTIAN AID LAUNCH EMERGENCY £1M HAITI EARTHQUAKE APPEAL

CHRISTIAN AID LAUNCH EMERGENCY £1M HAITI EARTHQUAKE APPEAL

Christian Aid has launched a £1m emergency appeal for victims of the Haiti earthquake. Thousands of people are already feared dead and many more are believed to be critically injured. Countless are thought to be homeless.

The quake, measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale, struck 15km southwest of the capital Port-au-Prince just before 5pm local time yesterday, and was shortly followed by two strong aftershocks of 5.9 and 5.5.

Launching the appeal, Dame Anne Owers, Chair of Christian Aid, said: ‘I visited Haiti in recent months with Christian Aid and was deeply concerned about the level of poverty there. It is one of the poorest places on earth.

’This latest disaster is going to cause untold suffering and hardship, particularly in communities with very little to fall back on. There is an urgent need for emergency supplies, including food, shelter and medicine.

’In the longer term, rebuilding is going to require massive international assistance. I appeal to people and to governments to give what they can.’ Nick Guttman, head of Christian Aid’s humanitarian division, said today: ‘The situation in Haiti is very, very serious due to the strength and shallowness of the earthquake and its proximity to the capital Port-au-Prince.

‘Most of the buildings and infrastructure in Haiti are very fragile.  Many people have been killed by falling debris and there are still many more trapped under the rubble, in desperate need of assistance.

‘Hundreds of offices, hotels, houses and shops have collapsed, the presidential palace lies in ruins, and many churches have also been completely destroyed. ‘The Christian Aid office itself has also collapsed and three people, including Christian Aid staff, had to be rescued from the rubble. Thankfully they are safe but communications to the country are very difficult since the city is without electricity and the telephone network has broken down.

‘The absolutely critical humanitarian needs now are obviously search and rescue, much of which is initially being carried out by local people and organisations, shelter, clean water and medical assistance.’

Christian Aid’s Caribbean Regional Manager Judith Turbyne said the Christian Aid building was relatively robust but was still destroyed. Loss of life in poorer communities is expected to be very high.

‘One of the key issues in Haiti is the weak state and the lack of resources at the state’s disposal,’ she said.   ‘There will be a national response, but it is unlikely to be sufficient.

There will be a huge need for a concerted response on behalf of the relatively large aid community in Haiti.’   Christian Aid partner organisations in Haiti, Veterimed and Koral, are very experienced in emergency response work, and will be working round the clock to meet the urgent humanitarian needs.

Notes To Editors:

 1) Christian Aid works in some of the world’s poorest communities in nearly 50 countries. We act where the need is greatest, regardless of religion, helping people build the life they deserve.

2) Christian Aid has a vision – an end to poverty.  Our new drive, Poverty Over, explains what we believe needs to be done – and can be done – to make that vision a reality.  Details at www.christianaid.org.uk

Hon Lord William Morris of Handsworth OJ

Patron – National Black Boys Can Association

“The education system in the UK has been failing black boys for years. It has been recognised that a sound education offers benefits to young people that exceed financial prospects”

The National Black Boys Can Association has for many years been dedicated to community support and sharing and dissemination of best practice, in order to develop a transferable model which can be used, adopted and adapted by local community projects to suit their own local needs.  As a community led organisation it has championed the issue of underachieving Black boys, and has developed a range of resources and support programmes for community groups.  It is a proactive, action-oriented organisation that aims to provide black boys with educational opportunity, valuable life skills, and the self-esteem, confidence and determination to succeed. All these qualities are essential if they are to overcome disadvantage and make the most of their formative and adult years. Raising black boy’s awareness of the barriers which many of them face, and empowering them with strategies for overcoming those barriers, will pay dividends to the boys not only throughout their years at school but throughout their adult years too.

Bristol Black Boys Can/WISE Organisation is a charitable enterprise that delivers an educational and empowerment program aimed at Black and dual heritage children in our community. Our objective is to develop young minds to enable them to achieve their full potential in life.

A:         Not necessarily. This will be limited to particular situations and totally dependent on an individual basis.
