Church of God of Prophecy, Tudor Road, Bristol

Pastor Ray

Pastor Ray, as he is affectionately known is the epitome of a man who has risen to the challenges of being a modern day minister. He committed his life to God at the age of 21 and from that moment he has never looked back.

Balancing his successes in business with his commitment to the ministry, he has served as an assistant pastor, care group leader, Sunday school teacher, youth pastor and treasurer, all in preparation for his appointment as Senior pastor for the Church in Bristol. His remit inside and outside of church has been to present a relevant message of God, that is firmly based in biblical principles.

In discussion with him about his vision he stated, “Christ commands believers to make disciples. The church must complete its mission of evangelism by declaring the gospel and thus leading people to repentance. I believe that the church must proclaim life in Christ not as an alternative lifestyle, but as the only true lifestyle for this world”.

As a longtime champion of local causes, Pastor Ray has been invited to sit on committees and local boards that have social conscience at their heart and he firmly believes that the church must stand against the cultural values of materialism, narcissism, power and autonomy in favour of spirituality, interdependence, intimacy and community.

Pastor Ray is a committed family man. He has been married for over 22 years to his wife Jeannette, and they have two sons Raymond Junior and Adrian.

Jeannette is an annointed preacher, teacher and counsellor. Both of his sons are active members of the church in the music ministries.

During a recent interview, Pastor Ray was asked to share his views on what makes a successful church. His response was as follows:

“The church’s success must never be measured only in terms of souls saved for kingdom of God, but our success must also be seen in terms of the process that is in place that leads to both spiritual and emotional maturity among the people that we serve. Our success will also be measured in our gratitude and adoration to God that is expressed in worship. God desires that we, who are his children, worship him in Spirit and in truth”.

“Pastor Ray enforces the message of God’s unending love and encourages you to hold on to your faith.

Romans 8:35-39: ‘Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, for thy sake, we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord’.
